Red Light Therapy Bed Cost & Specification

Red light therapy bed cost varies more than any other modality we supply, because the word 'bed' covers everything from a consumer panel array to an FDA Class II grade commercial device.

This guide gives you the three numbers that make the comparison honest.

How to compare beds honestly

  • Irradiance at treatment distance, in mW/cm². Not at the diode surface — at the distance a body actually lies. This is where consumer specifications quietly inflate.
  • Dose per session, in J/cm². Irradiance multiplied by time. A bed at 123 J/cm² finishes in under fifteen minutes; a weaker bed needs forty to deliver the same dose.
  • Duty cycle. How many consecutive sessions the bed sustains at rated output before thermal throttling. For a commercial site this decides your daily capacity.

Session length is not a comfort question, it is a capacity question. A bed that halves session time doubles the clients you can put through the same room, which is why the higher-output models pay back faster despite the higher purchase price.

Where the price difference goes

The commercial vs home red light therapy bed gap is not marketing. It is dual-chip diodes instead of single, active thermal management instead of passive, a rated continuous duty cycle, measured and certified output, and a frame built for a stranger's body twelve times a day.

The full specification comparison is on the red light therapy category page.

Modelling the revenue line

Photobiomodulation has the shortest session time and the lowest running cost of the three primary modalities, which makes it the easiest recovery asset to model. Take your session price, multiply by realistic peak-hour utilisation, and compare against a bed whose session time you have actually verified — not the one on the brochure.

For a whole-facility model covering several modalities at once, see Build Your Centre.
